# Calendar item

### Overview

Calendar items are used to store important information about the timing and duration of shifts. These items include three critical pieces of information: the shift item itself, the days of the week on which the shift runs, and the dates the shift is valid for.

When shifts are fixed and run regularly, the shift dates can be set years in advance. However, calendar items are also useful when companies run different shift patterns during peak times of the year. In such cases, the dates of the shifts can be easily adjusted to reflect the specific requirements of the production schedule.

### Creating a Calendar Item

Go to **Settings >** **Asset Hierarchy >** **Calendars**

Select the **relevant** **Calendar > Calendar Item > *****Create***; you will be presented with a pop-up.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.tillit.cloud/tillit/knowledge-base/setting-up-tillit/asset-hierarchy/calendar/calendar-item.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
