# Track and Trace

Track and trace is critical for manufacturers to gain real-time visibility, traceability, and control over their materials or products. It involves creating digital records or unique identifiers for each material or product, capturing important information such as batch numbers, lot numbers, expiration dates, quality attributes, and handling instructions.

This information is then associated with the corresponding materials or products as they move through different stages of the production or supply chain process.

For example, manufacturers can use TilliT to trace the movement of materials from the moment they are received in the warehouse to when they are consumed in production, and then to the finished products shipped to customers.
