An Attribute is a property definition and can be related to an Asset, Material or Order. It provides additional context for operational control and compliance.
Details on how to configure Attributes can be found here.
However, in many cases it may not be possible to know the value of a desired attribute ahead of time or the value may change during production. For these cases, you can use an activity to update any attribute using the Update Attribute Item type.
Attributes can be referenced in Calculations, Read only notes, Active Item Expressions, Hidden Expressions and Tolerances. This means that the behaviour of activity templates can change dynamically with the aid of the Update Attribute Item type.
When you add an Update Attribute element to an activity template, you are presented with 3 options:
_Update Order Attribute _ is order-specific, meaning that it will only affect the order that the activity is run on and is, therefore, the most common type to be updated in TilliT.
In addition, Update Order Attribute does not require a value to be present before setting one. For example, we need to record the full pallet weight to reference later. We have configured an attribute called Full Pallet Weight. Howvere, in the list of this order's attributes, you can see that it it not yet present:
In our activity, we have created an element using Update Attribute > Update Order Attribute:
Now when the operator submits the activity, the attribute is added to the orders list:
Update Material Attribute and _U_pdate Asset Attribute operate in a similar way, but caution must be observed as they will permanently change the attributes configured on the material or asset from that order. That means if another order uses the same asset or material, it will be affected by this change. For example, if you changed the Closure type material attribute in the screenshot above, and another line was also producing this material, both lines would be affected, as well as any other subsequent orders that use said material.
